What Is Udta Teer About?
The film is a spy action-comedy and an espionage spoof. It is directed and written by Aakash Kaushik, in his feature directorial debut, and it runs for about 2 hours 17 minutes. It is certified U/A 13+.
Ayushmann Khurrana plays Bilal Ahmad, a Pakistani spy who infiltrates India’s Counter-Terrorism Squad (CTS) as agent Vikrant Thapar. During a mission, he has an accident and loses his memory. When he wakes up, he is convinced that he is a patriotic Indian officer.
He then starts working against his own Pakistani handlers, which creates much of the film’s comedy and confusion. His wife Yamini, played by Sara Ali Khan, works in the Defence Ministry. His CTS boss is Burman, played by Rahul Bose, and his Pakistani handler is General Niyazi, played by Ram Kapoor. Critics have called the film a ‘reverse Dhurandhar’.
