Rudravanam PS is now streaming on ZEE5, and it arrives with one of the darkest opening hooks of any Telugu original this year. The seven-episode crime thriller premiered on 30 October 2026, and it wastes no time in throwing its honest police officer into a case that refuses to stay small. A man goes missing, a headless corpse is found, and a reported theft of gold worth Rs 25 lakh sits underneath it all. From the first episode, Rudravanam PS makes it clear that this is not a routine police procedural. It is a village mystery where every answer seems to hide a bigger secret.
The case that opens Rudravanam PS
The story begins in the village of Rudravanam, where Sub-Inspector Sivakumar is handed a case that looks straightforward and turns out to be anything but. A local man has disappeared, and the search for him leads to a shocking discovery in the forest: a headless body. As Sivakumar digs deeper, the investigation widens into something far more troubling, touching multiple killings, a gold robbery and hidden connections between crime, power and prejudice in the town. What makes the premise work is its restraint. The series does not pile on twists for their own sake. Instead, it lets one disturbing fact lead to another, so the viewer keeps asking the same question Sivakumar does: what is this town hiding?
What the trailer reveals
The official trailer of Rudravanam PS, released by ZEE5 Telugu ahead of the premiere, sets the tone in under a few minutes. It opens with the missing-man complaint and the gold theft of Rs 25 lakh, then cuts to shadowy forests, flashlight-lit searches and tense confrontations at the police station. The trailer deliberately holds back the biggest revelations. It shows enough to promise a gripping investigation, but it does not explain who the headless body belongs to or how the crimes connect. That choice is the trailer’s strength. Viewers who enjoy crime thrillers will recognise the pattern: a small place, powerful people who want the case closed quickly, and one officer who refuses to look away. The trailer also underlines the series’ visual style, with cinematographer Ashkar Ali using dark, moody frames that suit a story built on suspicion.
Meet SI Sivakumar and the cast
Naresh Agastya leads the series as SI Sivakumar, the honest officer at the centre of the storm. Sivakumar is not written as a larger-than-life hero. He is a working policeman balancing his personal life with a case that grows more dangerous the closer he gets to the truth, and Agastya plays him with quiet determination rather than loud heroics. Around him, the cast gives the village its texture. Banerjee plays CI Venugopal, the senior officer in the station, while Shiva Alapati appears as ASI Madhav and Sugali Siloni as ASI Nirmala. The supporting cast also includes Ramesh Konambhotla, Shravani Reddy, Narayana Swamy, Charu Wakan and Preetei Sundar. It is an ensemble built for a mystery: every character could know something, and the series uses that uncertainty well.
The team behind the series
Rudravanam PS is directed by Sasidhar Munnangi and written by Taj Syed, whose earlier work includes the writing of RX 100. The series is produced by Dr Surya Kanthi Kuchibhotla and Ramesh Puppala under the Sri Chakra Movies banner, with Ashkar Ali handling cinematography, Madhav on editing and Ashish Tejapulala as production designer. At the grand pre-release event, Munnangi described the show as one of the strongest thrillers produced in Telugu, saying every episode, right up to its final beat, is designed to keep viewers hooked. That confidence is easy to understand. A seven-episode format gives a crime story room to breathe without stretching it thin, and the team behind it has used that room to build atmosphere first and action second.
Why seven episodes suit this thriller
Length is often where streaming thrillers go wrong, either rushing the mystery or padding it. The series avoids both traps by keeping its episode count tight. Seven episodes are enough to follow the missing-man case from complaint to confrontation, to let suspicion fall on more than one person, and to show how power works in a small town without turning the story into a lecture. For viewers, the format is also practical. The whole series can be finished across a weekend, which matters for a mystery that depends on remembering small details. If you like shows where the setting itself feels like a suspect, Rudravanam PS is built for exactly that kind of binge.
How to watch it on ZEE5
It is available to stream on ZEE5 from 30 October 2026, as a ZEE5 Original in Telugu with English and Hindi subtitles reported by streaming guides. You can watch it through the ZEE5 website or app, subject to the platform’s subscription requirements and regional availability. No theatrical release or separate rental option has been announced for the series, which makes sense for an original made for streaming. If you are picking something new for the weekend after the Diwali rush, this is a strong option, and it sits nicely alongside other recent streaming arrivals such as A Dog’s Perfect Christmas, which brings a very different kind of family viewing to Netflix.

The series works because it trusts its premise.
